The midfielder admitted Barcelona had fallen from their perch a little but he was still loving it

He is in the eye of the hurricane but Frenkie de Jong is still convinced he can hit his best form in a Barcelona shirt. In an interview with NOS Sports the midfielder looked at Barcelona’s season so far.

“Sometimes it surprises me, but I think the same about Barcelona still. They aren’t in their best moment, but it’s still the most beautiful club in the world.”

De Jong was benched for the recent game against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey.

“In three years I’ve hardly ever sat on the bench. It’s normal to do it a couple of times a season, there are so many games.

“I think I can show more. There’s been moments where I’ve been in better or worse form but I think I can bring a lot more to the team. I can stand out more.”

De Jong said that he reads the media in Spain.

“I like football, so so I read all the news. I know a lot of people talk. Sometimes I have the sensation that in reality they don’t watch the games. If all journalists copy each other there is an atmosphere of things going wrong.”
