It's been 35 matches since the Catalans tasted defeat at home in the Champions League

On paper, Barcelona are the big favourites to reach the Champions League quarterfinals when they host Napoli in the last 16 this week following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Italy way back in February.

Recent results at Camp Nou reveal the scale of the task facing Napoli -- although no fans is also a factor to consider -- with Barça unbeaten at home in Europe since May 1 2013, a run of 35 games in which they've averaged 2.97 goals per game.

The last team to win at Camp Nou in the Champions League was Bayern Munich. With Lionel Messi on the bench, not fully fit, and Barça having lost the first lef 4-0 in Munich, the Germans won the game 3-0.

Since then, under Gerardo Martino (one season), Luis Enrique (three) and Ernesto Valverde (two and a half), Barça have remained unbeaten on their patch.

The Napoli game will be Quique Setien's first at home in the competition and he has a tradition to uphold.

The runs under Luis Enrique and Valverde were spectacular. The former won all of his European games at Camp Nou save the last one, a goalless draw against Juventus. That was 15 wins out of 16. As for Valverde, he won 12 out of 14, with the exceptions being draws against Tottenham and Slavia Prague.

Barça broke the record for longest unbeaten run at home in the competition when they made it to 30 against Lyon in 2019, beating Bayern's record of 29 between 1998 and 2002. Arsenal, between 2004 and 2009, reached 24.

Of the 35 games, Barça have won 31 (88.5 percent) and drawn four. As for goals, they have scored 104 and conceded 17, at an average of 2.9-0-4. It's been 2,651 days since they lost at home.
