The forward will renew his contract at the Catalan club

Ousmane Dembele has decided to extend his contract with Barcelona. According to the journalist Sebastien Denis, from Footmercato, the French player is ready to commit his future to Camp Nou and has told his agents to finalise a renewal, with his current deal up on June. 30.

Per the same report, Dembele's agents were more open to a change of scenery but Dembele has stood strong in his desire to stay and his representatives will work on that line. Dembele had two other offers on the table: one from Bayern Munich and another from Newcastle United.

Barça's director of football Mateu Alemany declared recently that "the Dembele issue has to be sorted before the end of the year" because from Jan. 1 he is free to talk -- and even sign a pre-contract agreement -- with other clubs. Barça had made offers to the player but also were not ruling out a January sale, either.

Footmercato suggest the renewal is likely to be for two years, until 2024. Dembele therefore can continue at Barça on the same conditions without committing for too long. Barça, meanwhile, get the chance to show they are building their new project with the 24-year-old playing a key role.

Barça believe it's key to get Dembele to sign a new deal. In addition, it will create more room within the club's salary cap as the amortisation will be spread over two years more and the base salary will slightly drop, which is good new for the January transfer window.
