The club is willing to listen to offers for the French defender but want to bank at least €50m

Samuel Umtiti began his stay at FC Barcelona by quickly establishing himself as first choice alongside Gerard Pique. For his first two seasons at Barça, he was untouchable. However that all changed in his third and most recent campaign.

He picked up an injury which forced him to spend a long time on the sidelines. Umtiti refused the club's advice to go under the knife to solve his knee issue and this has ultimately caused a fracture in the relationship between the two. He only played 15 times and despite being available since the end of February was unable to oust Clement Lenglet from his place in the team.

There was tension already from Umtiti's most recent contract renewal. He pressured the club into accepting his demands by showing offers from other interested teams. Barça didn't like his methods. He signed a new deal in the summer of 2018 and his stock fell with board members when he gave his opinion on Griezmann's decision to turn Barça down.

At the moment there's no rush to balance accounts and Barça won't accept anything less than €50m for the defender. Juventus and Manchester United have expressed an interest in Umtiti but neither has followed through with a bid.

Umtiti is reportedly happy to see out another year at the Camp Nou and rediscover his best form. However, the mood has changed and whilst Barça aren't opposed to keeping him they would also listen to any fair offers which come in.
