The German giants bid €70m for Dembele which was immediately turned down by Barça, who want at least €100m

Bayern Múnich have made an opening offer in their pursuit to sign Ousmane Dembele. However, the initial round of talks ended quickly as the €70m bid was deemed unacceptable by FC Barcelona.

The German club want to bring the French winger back to the Bundesliga but will need to up their bid to around €95m if they want to do business. Two years ago Barça paid €105m (plus €40m in add-ons) and want the bulk of that outlay repaid.

AN OPTION

Bayern are looking for a winger to cover the losses of Robben and Ribery this season. Alongside Dembele, they are also after Manchester City's Leroy Sane but the English club is reluctant to sell the youngster.

Dembele is open to a Bundesliga return if the right offer comes in, although he doesn't rule out another year with Barça either.

It's a question of waiting now to see if Bayern come back with an improved offer. Dembele has been linked with PSG as part of the Neymar deal but Barça would prefer to sell him outright in order to raise funds.
