FC Barcelona interested in Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger

The centre-back is the club's Plan B if they don't land Eric Garcia

Chelsea and Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger is one Barcelona's back up options in the event they don't manage to sign Eric Garcia this summer, Kicker have reported and SPORT have been able to confirm.

Rüdiger, 27, has emerged as an alternative to the Man City centre-back, who is out of contract next summer and wants to return to Camp Nou.

However, Barça would still have to pay a price to bring him back during the current transfer window. If they can't manage that, they will look at other options.

Rüdiger has had a number of fitness issues at Chelsea and appears to have fallen further down the pecking order following the signing of Thiago Silva.

Chelsea, therefore, are prepared to let him leave and Barça would be keen on securing him on loan for the season. However, they will only sign a Garcia alternative if they're able to sell Samuel Umtiti.
