Recovering players Araujo and Christensen trained on the day off, along with Iñigo Martínez, Eric, Pedri and Fermín López

Araujo, Iñigo Martínez, Christensen, Pedri, Eric and Fermín López trained on their day with their sights already set on the league opener against Getafe.

The season opener will be played at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Sunday at 21:30 and Xavi has several selection doubts.

Two of last season's starting XI regulars are in doubt for the official kick-off: Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.

Both have finished the pre-season on the sidelines and are still working to be available against Getafe.

Araujo is one of the three players to start all of the four summer games -together with Pedri and Oriol Romeu-, but in the first half of the last game, the 58th Joan Gamper Trophy against Tottenham, he asked to be substituted due to muscular discomfort.

The Uruguayan, who arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva at around nine in the morning, stopped to sign some autographs and repeated the same on his departure two hours later, is expected to be in the squad for the match in Getafe.

As for the Dane, he also requested a change in the second match of the tour of the United States, against Real Madrid. In his place came Eric Garcia, who has established himself in this round of summer fixtures. The former Chelsea man did not feature again against AC Milan or Spurs. He is unlikely to be available, pending tomorrow afternoon's session.

So, at the moment, Xavi has two fully fit central defenders: Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia. The Frenchman has also played at right-back during pre-season, but Sergi Roberto can also play there allowing him to move tho his preferred centre-back role.

Marcos Alonso is another alternative, while Iñigo Martínez is still recovering from plantar fasciitis.
