FC Barcelona initiate new contact with Gerard Piqué to negotiate his salary reduction
This week FC Barcelona wants to negotiate again with the defender about the salary reduction to register Koundé.
FC Barcelona want to continue negotiating with Gerard Piqué's agents about a pay cut for the defender, to allow them to register Jules Koundé. The French defender already missed the match against Rayo Vallecano but has the assurance of the vice-president, Rafa Yuste, that the club will do everything possible to ensure he will be eligible to play the next fixture.
The negotiation between Barca and Piqué remains at a standstill. The player's agents also understand that a solution must be found quickly, so another meeting is expected soon. Both parties want to reach an agreement, and it would not be the first time that Piqué has made himself available to help the club.
The Catalan defender was already essential last season to sign Memphis and Eric Garcia. His salary reduction a day before the match against Real Sociedad allowed the signings to play.
