Valverde wants to keep him in the squad as he offers something different to the rest of his midfield options

The sporting department and coaching staff at FC Barcelona have no interest in selling Arturo Vidal this summer. The Chilean international, who is about to return to the club after an extending break due to the Copa America, isn't for sale unless a crazy offer lands on the club's desk. Ernesto Valverde feels Vidal is a crucial member of his squad as he possesses characteristics that no one else in the midfield has. Plenty of sides have enquired about his situation, mainly from Italy, but Arturo and Barcelona are both expecting him to spend another season at the Camp Nou.

Vidal originally arrived at Barça as a surprise signing to cover the role Paulinho left vacant. Valverde wanted a stronger, more physical option in the centre as it looked to find the right balance in the team. He cost less than €20m and Vidal became a key figure in the team towards the business end of the season.

There were initial talks with a Chinese Super League team that didn't go anywhere, plus Inter Milan asked about his situation too. Vidal wants to see out another season at Barça and then make a decision on his future when he's only got a year left on his contract.
