The reality is this: Marco Verratti, PSG's Italian centre midfielder, will not sign for Barcelona. The PSG player, one of the French side's heavyweights, will continue at the Parque des Princes. The soap opera of the summer of 2017 doesn't exist in Paris. "Barcelona are wasting time and energy on Verratti," a club source told SPORT.
PSG believe Barcelona can do whatever they want but they will not be able to take Verratti to Camp Nou. They tried for Thiago Silva and Marquinhos and failed, with the source saying "the story will have the same ending" as those two cases.
The French side are not contemplating Barcelona's interest in the player. And relations between the two clubs are practically inexistent. PSG, who belong to the Qatar Investment Authority, do not look kindly on a direct Champions League rival taking their player, and especially not with the recent history of eliiminations... and that 6-1.
Barcelona will keep in the race for Verratti until the last moment, but not even the player wanting a move will be sufficient. beIN SPORTS also published a tweet that says sources have told them Verratti will stay at PSG. With the television channel being property of the club's owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, it seems Verratti will be staying at PSG.
