FC Barcelona and Juventus make a final push for Memphis Depay's transfer

Barça and Juve are accelerating negotiations on the transfer of Memphis to the Italian club, with the player finally agreeing to leave Barça. The club hoped to get a significant sum for him, but have had to lower their demands. The plan now is a low transfer fee plus a bonus in the future depending on the player's performance. Memphis demanded a high salary, and his agents are seeking an agreement for two seasons plus an optional one.

The initial plan of Barça and Juve was to close a loan with an obligatory purchase option of about 20 million euros. For this, the player had to renew for the Spanish club for one more season, but the Dutchman's agents refused. Instead, they informed Juve that he would be released this summer, and will wait until the end of the market.

Juve, who maintain good relations with Barça, agreed to the Spanish club's latest offer to close the transfer this summer for a very low price, plus a bonus in future. They deem it a fair deal and the player will receive a high salary in Italy. Presently, the clubs are still conferring and plan to reach an agreement this week.
