He set the club back two million euros and there were doubts about buying him at the time

Ez Abde is one of the young players who has exploded into Barcelona’s first team and the technical team are surprised by his quality and character on the pitch. He arrived this summer from Hercules, a decision made by Ramon Planes, and he got ahead of Real Madrid to convince the club to sign him for 2 million euros. There was some reticence because he did not come through La Masia but it seems Planes was right.

Barcelona moved for Abde a year ago. Planes had followed him well and got ahead of Madrid and Bayern. Hercules coach Manuel Diaz informed Madrid of the situation. Curiously Diaz was linked with Madrid’s youth football for several years and was one of those who wasn’t sure about Pedri. WIth Abde tied up Barcelona took the hardest decision: paying 2 million for a player who had just played a handful of games in Segunda B.

Abde scored his first goal in La Liga against Osasuna and is ahead of Demir and the other young wingers at the club.

The club know he’s here to stay and can be very important for Barcelona. Let’s see if he goes to the Africa Cup of Nations, which could set him back in terms of Barcelona, although would be a good experience for his development. Xavi will keep giving him chances for now.

In Madrid they lost the game for Abde in part because he wanted to play for Barcelona. He saw more options to succeed there and he was not wrong. He has it all to become a star. And for just two million, the deal is already paying off.
