Exclusive: Bartomeu tells SPORT there's no Setien break clause this summer
The president spoke to SPORT's Albert Masnou about Barça's managerial change
Josep Maria Bartomeu denies that Quique Setien's contract, which runs until 2022, has a clause that would allow him to leave at the end of the current season.
In an exclusive interview with SPORT, the Barcelona president told journalist Albert Masnou that he could leave with the change of president in 2021 but not this summer.
"No, Setien has a two-and-a-half-year contract and can leave in 2021," Bartomeu explained. "He's signed until 2022 but there are elections in 2021 and, at that moment, there's a clause which, if the new president wants to change coach, can alter Setien's contract."
Setien was appointed on Monday, taking over from the sacked Ernesto Valverde, and took training for the first time on Tuesday before being presented to the media at Camp Nou.
