Javier Bordas has lifted the lid on Barcelona's negotiations to re-sign Neymar from PSG in 2019

Javier Bordas, the former director and later vice president under Josep Maria Bartomeu at Barcelona, has lifted the lid on the negotiations to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Bordas, speaking to Cadena Cope show El Partidazo, explained the club were €20 million short of re-signing the Brazilian in a cash plus players deal.

"We offered PSG €110 million plus (Jean Clair) Todibo, (Ivan) Rakitic and the loan of (Ousmane) Dembele," Bordas said. "PSG wanted €30m plus Todibo, Rakitic and Dembele on loan.

"Neymar was €20m away from coming back. Neymar's father said that he would make up the difference but in the end that didn't happen."

Bordas also revealed that Barça tried to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2017: "We tried to bring in Mbappe and Dembele together. Mbappe was excited at the prospect of coming to Barça when Neymar left."

Messi's FUTURE

Finally, Bordas also referred to the delicate situation around Lionel Messi's future, saying that everything now depends on the project the incoming president brings with them.

"His future at Barça depends on how he sees the team," Bordas added. "If he feels they have a chance to win, he will want to stay."
