Negotiations for the French fullback are advancing well but the sticking point remains the fee - Barça want €16m

Everton have sent representatives out to Barcelona to finalise their deal for Lucas Digne as quickly as possible. The English side made an offer to Barça a few days ago but it was rejected for being too low. It now appears as if the two parties are edging closer to an agreement after Barcelona made it clear they wouldn't sell for anything less than €16m. Digne is ready to sign for Everton because he wants more regular playing time.

Digne has travelled with his Barcelona teammates to the United States despite knowing a transfer is close to being completed. The reason for the hold up was the fact Everton were finalising another deal, the €56m signing of Richarlison, but that's been completed. Now the priority is Digne. The Toffees manager, Marco Silva, even mentioned Digne by name and hoped a deal would be done soon.

Barcelona have opened the door for Digne to leave because the fullback isn't seen as a key part of the squad going forward. The plan is to sell him and then promote an academy starlet to provide cover for Jordi Alba: this will be Cucurella. Once Digne has left, Alba could even sign a new contract and extend his stay at the Camp Nou.
