Samuel Eto'o was happy with the conclusion to the Messi case

Former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o was "really happy" that Lionel Messi decided to stay at the club and not force an exit this summer.

However, Eto'o, who played alongside Messi at Camp Nou, believes the Catalan club still need a number of signings this summer after a trophy-less campaign.

"I am really happy that my 'son' Messi has stayed," he said at the presentation of the new La Liga season. "But Barça, beyond Messi, need eight players in the Barça style, with tiki-taka, and not box to box players."

On the title race, he added: "I am going to speak about the next champions, that will be Barça. But more than anything, I want the club of my heart, Mallorca, to get back in the top flight.

"I am also going to keep an eye on Real Betis with a top-level coach (Pellegrin) who is back in the best league in the world."

Still on Barça, Eto'o said he would like to see Sergio Busquets "return to his best level because when he's on it, Barça always win titles and last season he wasn't."
