Ernesto Valverde rests Lionel Messi for Sevilla Copa del Rey trip
The coach left the Argentine talisman out for Wednesday's match at the Pizjuan
Ernesto Valverde has announced his squad for the Copa del Rey quarter-final clash in Seville and Lionel Messi will not be making the trip.
Along with Sergio Busquets, the Barcelona talisman was rested. However new signing Kevin-Prince Boateng has been included, having had the paperwork on his loan deal successfully processed.
Messi trained as normal on Tuesday and there was no indication that he would not travel south.
However he had also been left out of the first leg against Levante, where Barca lost 2-1. The difference is Sevilla are a cut above.
