Ernesto Valverde: Control? We're going to attack

The Barca coach said his team are thinking about going to Anfield and winning

It’s been over a year but the shadow of the Roma debacle remains.

“Any thought that comes into the head about the 3-0 will be negative,” said Ernesto Valverde, ahead of the semi-final second leg clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

“We are planning for the game without thinking about the first leg, and with the intention of winning.”

Asked about control of the game, Valverde said: “The only thing we will try to do is attack, not have control. I have no doubt.”

Other key quotes…

Salah, Firmino, Dembele all out: “They are all important players. We don’t want any player to be injured. It would have been extraordinary to see them all on the pitch. They’re important. The absence of Dembele is a problem. Against a team that concedes space it’s important to have someone who fits Dembele’s profile.”

Liverpool’s chances: “In football anything can happen. They are an extraordinary rival on a strategic level. Football is like this. We beat them and they can beat us. We won’t relax.

Arturo Vidal: He’s in good form. In important games I’ve preferred that he participates in the second half, he brings us something different, we know he’s physically imposing.

PSG comeback: “You have to play the games. PSG didn’t think that if they scored they could be eliminated. And Barcelona scored six.”
