Barcelona saw their good run at Mestalla end after 12 positive results in a row. The Blaugrana had not lost there in La Liga since 18 Feb, 2007, a 2-1 defeat.
On Saturday they went down 2-0, with Barcelona's happy times at Valencia over. They had five wins and seven defeats, 19 goals scored and two conceded.
Setien's side's best player was Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who saved Maxi Gomez's penalty then let in two from the Uruguayan forward.
Last time Barca lost at Mestalla was under Frank Rijkaard. Angulo and David Silva put the hosts ahead and Ronaldinho pulled one back late on.
In 2008 they lost 3-2 in the cup at Mestalla.
