The Brazilian defender was technically on loan at Real Betis and so can feature

Barcelona have one of their four summer signings registered. It’s Emerson Royal, the Brazilian right back who has arrived after two seasons on loan at Real Betis. He has been registered because technically he is returning from loan and is not a signing.

GOL published the news, spotting he is appearing in La Liga’s official lists, unlike Memphis Depay, Erica Garcia and Sergio Aguero.

Barca and Betis bought Emerson together for six million euros each from Atletico Mineiro. He played on loan at Betis for two seasons but technically is a Barcelona player, with the Catalans then paying nine million to Betis. So he will be in the squad for Sunday’s game against Real Sociedad. He has done well in the minutes he has had, against Juventus in the Gamper.

Barcelona are working to register the others, with Memphis the priority as Aguero is injured and Eric Garcia is only just back from the Olympics.
