The Brazilian is getting started at Barça this week after re-joining from Betis

The new Barcelona defender Emerson Royal passed his medical at the club's training ground on Monday ahead of his official presentation.

He later spoke to the club's media, saying it's a "dream I've had since I was young. I am really happy. I am here to do the best I can. I deserve this because I have worked hard and I will keep working hard. When I joined Real Betis I was young, arriving in a different culture. Tactically and physically it's different. I have improved and I feel ready to play for Barça. I learned a lot from Quique Setien and Manuel Pellegrini."

Later, Emerson trained alongside Philippe Coutinho. The two Brazilians worked out at the Ciutat Esportiva with the first-team squad currently in Germany on a pre-season trip. Coutinho's not part of it as he's just returned from an injury, while Emerson had three weeks off after the Copa America.

Emerson, who rejoins Barça from Betis for nine million euros, will be officially presented later on Monday, when he will speak to the media alongside president Joan Laporta.
