Emerson signs for Barca, on loan at Real Betis
The player has been signed by Barcelona for 12m euros, he moves to Betis until the end of the season
Young Brazilian player Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior, known as Emerson, has joined Real Betis on loan from Atletico Mineiro.
For weeks Barcelona and Betis have been working on bringing the 20 year old to Europe. He will arrive on loan at the Benito Villamarin, and at the end of the season Barcelona buy him for 12 million euros.
Barcelona think he’s still too green to play for the first team and believe he can grow and adapt to life at Betis, who play a similar style to the Catalans.
"Compared in Brazil with former Barcelona player Dani Alaves, Emerson is a right-back who guarantees work equally in attack as in defence," said Barcelona in a statement.
"Attack and defence unite in the qualities of this Brazilian when he brings the ball out from the back."
