Elche 1-2 Barcelona: Memphis penalty keeps winning run going in LaLiga

Barça came from behind to seal three points and move third in the table on Sunday

Ferran Torres and a Memphis Depay penalty helped Barcelona come from behind to beat Elche 2-1 on Sunday.

Fidel Chaves had given the home side a first-half lead but Xavi Hernandez's side fought back to win for the third game in a row in LaLiga.

They move third in the table as a result, at least temporarily, with Real Betis, who started the weekend ahead of Barca, entertaining Atletico Madrid later on Sunday.

Barca spurned several first-half chances, with Frenkie de Jong missing two of them, only to see Elche take the lead on the stroke of halftime.

Pedri's mishit pass fed Fidel, who beat Dani Alves to the ball and shot past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Xavi reacted by bringing on Ferran at the break and the forward equalised on the hour mark, poking home after Jordi Alba turned Ousmane Dembele's cross towards goal.

Barça continued to create chances and Ferran had two good ones, but on both occasions was denied by the impressive Édgar Badía in the Elche goal.

But the Blaugrana continued to push and got their reward when Antonio Barragán handled Memphis' cross.

Memphis stepped up to rifle the ball into the top corner.

Elche were aggrieved to have their own penalty appeal turned down late on when the ball hit Alba's hand but Barça held on to seal the three points.
