Early tests rule out a serious injury for Gerard Pique

He was holding his right knee and had some pain in the Sevilla game

Per Esport3 the medical tests taken by Gerard Pique, Barca’s cup hero on Wednesday against Sevilla, have ruled out any serious injury.

The Catalan defender scored the goal that forced extra-time and put up a fine performance at the back. He did feel some pain in his right knee after an action in the first half of extra time, where he moved backwards.

Pique stayed on until full time and sealed Barca’s cup progress. Ronald Koeman had already made his five substitutions.

On Thursday he will have more tests but in principle there is no worry that he has suffered a relapse of the knee injury that kept him out for several months. We will see if he is available on Saturday against Osasuna.
