Philippe Coutinho will be out for a while yet. After undergoing surgery again this week on a meniscal cyst in his left knee, the Brazilian national team doctor has confirmed it's goodbye to the season and goodbye to the Copa America this summer.
"I can say that he won't make the Copa America," Rodrigo Lasmar told Globoesporte. "They'd already operated on him twice in Barcelona but a third procedure was necessary."
Coutinho's knee hadn't healed as hoped and there was no other choice but to have more surgery, which will not rule him out for several more months.
For now, he has not return date and will continue his recovery in Rio de Janairo, where the player lives. Coutinho's future at the club is one of the issues the new Barcelona board have to sort out.
