The English press spoke about his skill and confidence

Everton may yet regret not getting more out of Deulofeu

Gerard Deulofeu returned to the Premier League through the front door. The Barcelona player on loan at Watford won the penalty to open the scoring in his side's 4-1 win against Chelsea and scored a great solo goal. His performance was widely praised in England and he was named 'Man of the Match'.

The Watford Observed said: "Deulofeu impresses on his home debut as the Hornets topple the Blues." The winger was given the best rating (nine out of 10) and they added that "the way he carried the ball for this first Watfor goal showed skill and confidence."

In The Guardian, they said that "Gerard Deulofeu inspires Watford to runaway win against 10 man Chelsea" while The Mirror said he "tore" Antonio Conte's side apart.

It was also analysed in Liverpool, where Deulofeu previously played for Everton. The Liverpool Echo headlined: "

"Deulofeu's performance throws more scrutiny on Everton's transfer dealings."

There was also room for complaints from Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Coutois. The Belgian felt the Spain international dived to win the penalty, although Deulofeu responded by saying there was contact.
