Deulofeu will have the last say as Barça prepare to pay release clause

Barcelona will pay the 12 million euros to bring Deulofeu back from Everton

However, the winger may yet choose not to return to Camp Nou after two years away

La Masia graduate Gerard Deulofeu has an ace up his sleeve when it comes to choosing the moment to leave Everton. Deulofeu, who has spent the last six months on loan at Milan, knows that Barcelona will exercise the clause which allows them to re-sign him, but he also knows that the Catalan club won't have the last word.

If Barça's only desire is to sign him to sell him again, the club will not be able to do so. Deulofeu, who is currently with Spain U21s in Poland at the European Championships, has the ability, to block a move to Barcelona -- or, in the net year, to block his departure if the club tried to sell him on after re-signing him.

It's a formula which was calculated when he was sold to Everton to avoid the player becoming merchandise for the Catalan club. Under Luis Enrique he was hardly given an opportunity in the few weeks he spent with the coach at Camp Nou. Now, with an ace up his sleeve, he knows that situation will not be repeated with Valverde if he doesn't want it to be.

Barça have until June 30 to exercise their clause which allows them to re-sign the winger from Everton. They will do so, but it's up in the air whether Deulofeu will or won't choose to return to Catalonia.
