Dest & Konrad among Americans breaking Champions League record
A record amount of U.S players have been registered for the competition this season
American soccer has taken gigantic strides forward in recent years. The national team has a new generation of players coming through and many of them play for some of Europe's biggest clubs.
For the first time in history this season, there are 10 Americans registered for the Champions League, the best club competition in the world.
Among them are two Barcelona players. The first is Sergiño Dest, who joined from Ajax this month and made his debut against Sevilla before the international break.
The second is Konrad de la Fuente. The winger is still registered to the B team but is training with the first team and played in two preseason friendlies, earning praise from Ronald Koeman.
In addition, also called up for European duty are: Horvath (Club Brugge), Adams (RBLeipzig), Pulisic (Chelsea), Mckennie (Juventus), Steffen (Man.City), Reyna (Dortmund), Richards (Bayern Múnich) and Mendez (Ajax).
