Dembele will continue at Barça next season despite injury problems

The coaches want to give him another chance to succeed at Camp Nou

FC Barcelona have no intention of putting Ousmane Dembele on the transfer market in the summer. Firstly, because it would not be the correct thing to do with a player currently injured for six months after undergoing surgery in Finland. Even with the delay to the season, the club prefer to take no risks and for Dembele to play no more minutes this campaign.

And secondly, and perhaps more importantly, because the club, as well as coach Quique Setien, believe Dembele still has a lot to give on the pitch. They believe in his potential to become an important and key player for the team.

KEY SEASON

You have to remember that Dembele has suffered a number of injuries in the three seasons he's spent at Barça (he joined in 2017 when Neymar left) and he's never had the chance to be consistent.

The club's medical team, with the help of Aspetar Clinic in Qatar, have done exhaustive reports into the reasons that he's suffered so many injury problems. And there are two conclusions. One, that during his time at the club he has continued growing, both in terms of bones and muscles. He arrived at the club without having fully grown into his body.

Secondly, because he should have a more personalised training regime. He's not just a player, but an athlete, a sprinter, and as such he should work more on his muscles to be able to deal with the explosiveness that brings in matches.
