Dembele running out of time to renew his contract with Barcelona

The French forward is into the final two months of his deal at Camp Nou

LaLiga ends this weekend as Barcelona host Villarreal before a post-season trip to Australia. time is running out for Ousmane Dembele to renew his contract at Camp Nou, which expires on June 30.

The French winger is still waiting for an offer from Barça after recent meetings in April between the club's sporting director Mateu Alemany and the player's agent Moussa Sissoko.

Dembele has always made it clear it clear he wants to stay, especially since Xavi's appointment, but he is also studying other proposals in the meantime.

Bayern Munich are one of the clubs to have made contact with Sissoko, while Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest.

Barça are not overly optimistic regarding Dembele, with differences always clear throughout negotiations. He is ready to reduce his salary significantly, but the problem lies in the renewal bonus Sissoko wants and Barça aren't willing to pay.

XAVI WANTS HIM

The relationship between club and agent broke down in January. Dembele rejected the club's offer in December and they told him to leave in that transfer window, but he did not want to.

Barça tried to force the situation by signing Adama Traore on loan and leaving Dembele out of the squad for two games, but Xavi brought him back into the fold and has used him frequently ever since.

Xavi feels he is a special player and has asked the club to do all they can to keep him. Alemany has even travelled to Morocco to meet with Sissoko but nothing has advanced yet.

It's for that reason that there is not much optimism within the offices at Camp Nou regarding Dembele's future.
