L'Equipe say another meeting could help to reach an agreement

A glimmer of light with regards to Ousmane Dembele's contract renewal has opened at FC Barcelona. According to L'Equipe, Xavi Hernandez's insistence on keeping the player has been key for the Frenchman's camp, who aren't ruling out another meeting to move on negotiations that were previously broken.

Citing sources close to the player, the French newspaper indicates there are certain things that haven't helped talks -- and not just financially.

"A lot is said but it's not a question of money," assures Moussa Sissoko, the player's agent. "It's a question of the day-to-day management."

And he made reference to the Copa del Rey, when Dembele had to come on half-time against Linares to try and help turn the game around after hardly training with the team following contracting Covic-19.

"The sporting management, playing without training and after recovering from Covid-19, is difficult for us to understand," Sissoko added.

Despite that, Xavi has spoken repeatedly with Dembele to try and convince him that the best option is to stay at Barcelona.

And in that context, talks between his agent and Barça could restart. For now, according to L'Equipe, there's no meeting planned but there could be one before the end of the month.
