Delay to Ansu Fati's Barcelona contract renewal after Mendes' visit

Ansu Fati's contract renewal with Barcelona could take a while. The club want to announce it as soon as possible but SPORT have learned that won't be possible as there's still no agreement between the two parties.
Jorge Mendes, Ansu's agent, arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday, sparking optimism at the club that a deal could be pieced together this week.
However, Mendes didn't travel to meet with Barça but to check in on Ansu and his family. After spending time with them, he left Barcelona.
Negotiations between Barça and Ansu are not progressing as quickly as hoped. There are a lot of details to finalise and both sides expect it to drag on for a while yet.
Barça know they have to mke a huge effort to tie down one of their most important players after handing Ansu the No.10 shirt following Lionel Messi's exit.
Ansu, 18, meanwhile, wants to stay at the club although he knows talks will not be easy. He prefers to leave it in Mendes' hands and focus on football.
There's a belief that an agreement will arrive but it's not imminent yet.
