Defender Oscar Mingueza renews contract with Barcelona until 2023

The youngster has enjoyed an unexpected breakout season at Camp Nou

Barcelona have exercised their option to extend Oscar Mingueza's contract by an additional two years, tying him to Camp Nou until 2023.

Mingueza signed the extension on Friday at the club's training ground offices along with the new Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

As part of the new terms, the defender's release clause has risen to 100 million euros.

Mingueza, 21, has spent over a decade at the Blaugrana and after coming through the youth teams made his first team debut on Nov. 24, 2020, in the Champions League group stage against Dynamo Kyiv.

Since then, he has been an ever-present in Ronald Koeman's team selections, earning his place as the right-sided defender in a back three.
