'De Jong's been ill' - Xaxi explains Gavi and Mingueza picks
The Barcelona coach talked about his team selection for the Frankfurt game
Xavi's made changes to his Barcelona XI for Thursday's Europa League game against Frankfurt, with Oscar Mingueza and Gavi coming into the side.
Mingueza's inclusion at right-back is a particular surprise. Ronald Araujo has previously played there, but with Gerard Pique injured he partners Eric Garcia in the middle, with Clement Lenglet left out. Sergiño Dest is not fit to start but does maker the bench.
Gavi, meanwhile, starts in midfield with Sergio Busquets and Pedri after helping swing the game in Barça's favour at Levante at the weekend.
That means Frenkie de Jong has been left out, with Xavi explaining the Dutch midfielder has been ill these past few days.
"Mingueza is a guarantee," Xavi said. "As is Gavi and others, they help us a lot. Frenkie has been ill."
The attack is as expected: Ousmane Dembélé, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres, with Adama Traore left on the bench.
