De Jong scores Barça's eighth headed goal of the season at Granada

Barça have scored one more headed goal in 2021/22 than in the whole of last season

Luuk de Jong opened the scoring with a header at the Nuevo Los Carmenes as Barcelona drew 1-1 with Granada in LaLiga on Saturday.

The Dutch striker's goal, set up by a Dani Alves cross, was the eighth headed goal Barça have scored this season and the second he has scored in the last two league matches -- more than they managed in the entirety of last season.

Opta said: "8 - @FCBarcelona have scored the most headed goals of any team in @LaLigaEN this season with eight, scoring one more in 20 games in 2021/22 than in the whole of last season (seven). Surprising."

De Jong's first headed goal, curiously, only came last week, in the win at Mallorca, his importance in the team growing in the face of injuries and COVID-19 problems.

He had already found the net in Granada with his head in the eighth minute but the goal was ruled out because Gavi was ruled to be offside in the build-up.

After 61 minutes, De Jong came off for Memphis Depay with Barça still one goal up. The on-loan striker has scored three goals for Barça in 652 minutes across 13 appearances in all competitions this season.
