The Dutch midfielder confirmed that his wish is to play at the Camp Nou but that he would be staying at Ajax for another season

Frenkie De Jong will be in this season's Champions League but it won't be with FC Barcelona but rather his current club Ajax. The midfielder played a key role as his side knocked out Dynamo Kyiv in the final play-off round.

At the end of the match De Jong was predictably asked about the chances of him joining Barcelona. "I want to play for Barça and maybe I'll do that one day, but it won't be this season." The talented midfielder didn't hide his desire to perform at the Camp Nou and knows the two clubs are working on a transfer for next summer.

As De Jong waits for a deal to be reached, he'll focus his energy on having a good season with Ajax. He hopes it'll be "a very fun year" and that he's looking forward to the Champions League group stage draw. De Jong admitted he'd "like to play against Barça" and walk out at the Camp Nou. It would be the first time in his career he's done that but, if talks progress as expected, it won't be the last.
