The Dutch midfielder is out of contract next summer and has been linked with a move to Barça

Georginio Wijnaldum is willing to stay at Liverpool and could sign a new contract according to the 'Daily Star'.

The Dutch midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his deal with the English champions and has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona this summer.

Ronald Koeman sees Wijnaldum as the ideal player to complete his midfield for the 20/21 season and knows him well from their time together with the national team.

The initial talk during the summer was of Wijnaldum looking for a new challenge but 'Sky Sports' claim he's had a change of heart and now wants to stay in Merseyside.

It all comes after the midfielder met with Jurgen Klopp on Wednesday. He wanted to know what the coach's plans were for him next season amid reports Liverpool are trying to sign Thiago Alcantara. It appears Klopp told Wijnaldum he would be a key member of his squad going forward.
