United hope to take the Frenchman on loan from the Catalan club

Arturo Vidal, Luis Suarez, Jorge Cuenca... Operation Exit is in full swing at Barcelona and the next name on the list could be French winger Ousmane Dembele.

According to the Daily Record, Manchester United are interested in signing him, although they would only offer to take him on loan, while Barça are sitting firm on their 100 million euro asking price.

The cited media report that United vice president Ed Woodward has already spoken with Barça to ask about a loan, but was quickly shot down. Barça want to sell. Or, at least, a loan with an obligation to buy.

Barça's board don't want to let go of a player that cost 105 million euros on the cheap and will not do so unless a club can get somewhere near that price.

Despite the fact his three seasons at Camp Nou have been disappointing due to injuries, he's still just 23 and should carry a decent market value.

United's top target is Borussia Dortmund's England international Jadon Sancho but they have been unable to strike a deal with the German club despite negotiations throughout the summer.
