The Brazilian midfielder acknowledged the importance of his own early goal in a match which was played at such lightning pace

Philipe Coutinho, who scored the first goal against Tottenham with just two minutes on the clock, was quick to point out the importance of the hard fought victory against a very tough opponent.

The Brazilian midfielder told Movistar TV: "It was a difficult game in a difficult stadium against a great team. We've got the victory which is what we came for."

He was keen to point out the quality of the opposition. "We've played against a big team and it was a great Champions League encounter. We had to be focused and start quickly. We deserved to win today."

Coutinho opened the scoring whilst some people were still finding their seats. "(It was) important because we went into this winless in our last three matches. We came flying out of the blocks. To score in the second minute helped open the game up for us."

Once again, Lionel Messi was decisive for FC Barcelona. "Messi is the best. I always say he's the greatest of all time and what he does is outrageous. I'm happy that he's scored two goals."

Coutinho was keen to point out that every competition is important for the team. "For us, our aim is (wo win) every trophy. When Barça enter a competition, it generates huge expectations from the fans. We're 100% focused on every competition."
