The new Barcelona coach's rules don't allow Pique to travel to Madrid for the interview

Xavi Hernandez's appointment as Barcelona coach has led to several changes in the day-to-day life of the players at the football club.

One of the first to suffer the consequences is Gerard Pique, according to Partidazo de Cope, after he had to cancel an appearance on the television show El Hormiguero next week.

The reason for Pique pulling out of the interview is because it would have breached the rules Xavi has imposed since taking over this week.

One of the rules focuses on non-sporting activities the players partake in. Pique would have had to travel to Madrid for the interview on the show, which is aired late at night.

"It's not about getting tough," Xavi said on Monday. "It's about order and rules. Like in all companies. When I have had rules, I've done better. And when not, we've not done so well. You have to have them and follow them. It is not discipline, it's order."

Pique is currently injured and unable to train with his teammates, although he was present for Xavi's first training session on Tuesday, watching from the sidelines with Eric Garcia and Nico González, who are also injured.
