Cope: Barça and Mendes are already working on the transfer of Cancelo
Reports say there are already talks underway for the right-back to move to Camp Nou in January
Cope Valencia say that Joao Cancelo’s representative Jorge Mendes has met with Barcelona to analyse the chances of negotiating a deal for the Valencia right-back.
As reported by SPORT earlier on Friday, Cancelo is top of the club’s list of potential right-backs to sign in January. The versatile Portuguese player has been followed by the Blaugrana for a long time, although it’s clear that Valencia’s economic demands have previously put the brakes on any operation.
The more than likely departure of Aleix Vidal this winter has increased the club’s need to sign a new right sided full-back to compete with Sergi Roberto. Other options are Cedric Soares (Southampton) and Serge Aurier (PSG).
The relationship between Barça and Valencia is fluid despite the incidents at Mestalla in October. During the last transfer window, the clubs closed operations for players Munir El Haddadi, Paco Alcacer and Andre Gomes.
