Chelsea forward Ziyech emerges as January option for Barcelona

The former Ajax forward is not first choice at Stamford Bridge under Tuchel

It's no secret that Barcelona want to add to their attack in January and Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech has emerged as the latest target.

The club and no coach Xavi Hernandez agree that the team needs to improve in front of goal with the arrival of one or two players on loan until the end of the season.

There are not many reliable options on the market but Ziyech is one of them. He could leave Chelsea in the coming weeks and his name is on the table, although Xavi will have the final say based on the options presented to him.

Ziyech is well known by Barça. They asked Ajax about him in 2019, but he ended up moving to Chelsea for close to 40 million euros.

However, he's never been a regular in London and has not been given many minutes this season by Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea, in principle, would not stand in the way of a deal and would be willing to let him leave on loan with an option to buy which would not have to be obligatory.

That's key for Barça because they don't want to be obliged to buy a footballer if his performances aren't up to scratch or he doesn't fit the team.

Ziyech can play wide or behind the striker and has even played as a false nine for Chelsea. He's quick, a good finished, very technical and experienced.
