Catalunya Ràdio report the Brazilian wants a move to Barça

The Catalan club are looking for a replacement for Mascherano

Barcelona are combing the market for a replacement for Javier Mascherano, with the Argentine set to leave in January for China.

According to Catalunya Radio, Chelsea defender David Luis has taken advantage of a trip to Barcelona to solve an injury problem to offer himself to the Catalan club.

Luiz, 30, is an experienced centre-back who has played for big teams in Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Barça tried to sign him before but were unsuccessful.

However, despite being interested, Barça have ruled out any deal due to financial reasons. His high cost and elevated wages mean he's not an option, with the younger Yerry Mina more likely right now.

Luiz's situation in London is not the best right now, with Antonio Conte seeming to prefer other defenders, such as Rudiger and Christensen.

For that reason, the Brazilian is thinking about his future and hoped Barça could be an option, but the Catalan club have had to say no, even though it would have made sense in many ways.
