Barcelona meet with Dutch midfielder De Jong's agent
Barça are keen to sign the Ajax youngster in the summer
Barcelona have made contact with Frenkie de Jong several times. Last Thursday, there was a meeting in Barcelona between the club and the player's agent. At the meeting, Barça confirmed their firm interest in signing the Dutch midfielder from Ajax.
According to the journalist Oriol Doménech on 'El Club de la Mitjanit' on Catalunya Ràdio, the meeting took place in Barcelona, with the club expressing to De Jong's agent the problems they have paying his salary. They explained the difficulties they have getting the operation done.
The value the player, they believe he has a big future ahead of him, but they also commented that they can't pay the 75 million euros that Ajax hope to get for him.
It's unknown if Barça's posture is a tactic to put pressure on Ajax to drop their demands. De Jong is the Catalan club's No.1 objective.
