FC Barcelona hope to be able set the pace at the start of the summer transfer market by closing any speculation surrounding Neymar’s future at the club.
According to Catalunya Radio show El Club de la Mitjanit, a meeting took place on Tuesday regarding the Brazilian’s new deal with the hope that it can be announced after the Copa del Rey final.
Neymar’s current terms run until 2018 and he will pen a new deal until 2021. His 190 million euro release clause will move beyond 200 million and everything will be sealed in the coming days, before being announced next week with the idea of sending a message to the market.
The club have long since been in talks with the 24-year-old, with all the numbers drawn out, including the clause, the salary and the length of the contract. Everything suggests the moment to make it official has nearly arrived and Neymar will extend his stay with Barça.
