Barcelona tried to delay the vote but the government say it can be done despite coronavirus

The Catalan government have informed FC Barcelona that there are no legal or health reasons not to hold the vote of no confidence against president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board of directors on the planned dates (Nov. 1 and 2).

It's a setback for Barcelona who, on Thursday after meeting with the government, had asked for authorisation to delay it until Nov. 15 and 16.

Barça asked for two weeks more citing the complexity in organising such a vote during the coronavirus pandemic. They said they would need a minimum of 15 days to sort things out to ensure the safety of the socios.

The government, after said meeting, have now made their posture clear. Barça have a board meeting on Monday and will have to make a decision. Per the club's statutes, they must announce the date for the vote five days before the event.
