Carlos Soler signing generates consensus at Barcelona but is not certain

The Valencia midfielder is out of contract in 2023 and of interest to Barça

Barcelona like Carlos Soler but his signing is not a priority unless there's an unexpected departure in midfield. The Valencia man has the OK from the coaching staff and the signing committee and Barça are informed of how they could carry out the operation, but it all depends on Frenkie de Jong or another big sale.

Barça view Soler as a top-level player with a competitive capacity that would improve the team. His signing is on the table and could be activated if midfield needs strengthening.

The Spain international has one year on his contract with Valencia and has not renewed it. The club are in an institutional crisis and both Soler and Jose Luis Gaya could be allowed to leave. Peter Lim's Valencia need sales before June 30.

Everything is on ice for now until the market opens. Soler has other offers and will not wait forever, though. His camp know of Barça¡s interest but also of the domino effect needed for them to make the next step.

For now, Barça will prioritise the signing of a pivot to back up and potentially replace Sergio Busquets. Soler is an option if De Jong finally leaves for big money.

There is a long way to go, but Barça have the situation controlled.
