Careful Barcelona! Bayern monitoring club's best players amid money problems

| sport

The German club have shown an interest in several Barça players in the past

As Barcelona try to solve their financial problems, other clubs feel a sense of opportunity. The departure of Lionel Messi speaks for itself and, if that wasn't enough, some of Europe's biggest sides are keeping an eye on their other star players.

That's the case for Bayern Munich. They are monitoring Barça's cash crisis with one clear objective: to see if they could be willing to sell players in the future.

The German side are financially sound and sense an opportunity for next summer. There are various players that could be of interest to them.

For now, there's nothing serious, but there are frequent reminders. It's more of a: "If you decide to look for a new challenge, we're here..."

Beyond the contrasting financial situations of the two clubs, Bayern are also doing better on the pitch, especially in the Champions League.

Bayern have shown an interest in several Barça players in recent years, such as Marc Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Sergiño Dest and Pedri.

Ter Stegen has often been linked as a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who's still going strong at 35, while SportBild said that De Jong and De Ligt were both targets for Bayern in 2018.

As for Dest, it's well known that he chose Barça over Bayern, while the Bavarians asked about taking Pedri on loan last summer.

Barça know Bayern are monitoring the situation. They don't feel it's anything out of the ordinary at this stage. In fact, other clubs are also doing the similar groundwork.

Aside from balancing the accounts and strengthening the squad to compete for trophies, Barça also have to make an effort to keep their best players moving forward. Will this manage it? Or, better said, do they want to manage it?
