The skipper gave a speech to fans at Camp Nou ahead of the Gamper win over Boca Juniors
Lionel Messi has taken over from the departed Andres Iniesta as Barcelona skipper. And ahead of the Joan Gamper he gave a speech to Barcelona fans, promising to fight for the Champions League.
"For me it's a huge pride to be the captain, I know what it means and I have the luck of having great predecessors like Puyol, Xav and last of all the great Andres, who we will miss a lot," said Messi.
"We have a squad to get excited about, those who have arrived will help us to improve a lot and if last year was very good with the Copa and La Liga, it's true we have remembered what happened to us in the Champions League with our elimination and this year we will do everything possibl to bring this beautiful cup back to Camp Nou."
