Manchester City & Bayern Munich are also keen on the 70 million euro man

Just as Manchester City seemed clear favourites to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri, Barcelona could arrive on the scene and pay his release clause.

According to Cadena SER, Barça could pay the 70 million euros which would enable the Spain international to buy out his contract at Atletico.

Barça join Manchester City and Bayern Munich as the clubs vying for Rodsri's signature. The 22-year-old only joined Atletico last summer but has quickly become one of the best in his position in La Liga.

The Catalans are looking to rejuvenate their midfield, which has already seen them land Arthur Melo and Frenkie de Jong. Rodri would be the heir to Sergio Busquets.

Cadena SER say Atletico are already resigned to losing the player and are looking to use the money they bring in to replace him. Real Madrid's Marcos Llorente is an option.
